Kitchen drain wont unclog. Help!!?

I used an electric sewer machine. It went in about 20 ft. I am putting it in through behind the kitchen sink in the cast iron pipe that goes directly in ground. Can I damage p trap with electric snake? If p trap is broke what can happen?
