Laptop issue, acer and hp?

ok so my hp laptop was having some problems so my moms friend who is a computer fixer, decided to take a lok at it. Well for the most part he fixed it completely but I noticed it doesn't seem like my laptop is hp anymore. Appearently it's acer. I got pretty much everything figured out except I can't open my webcam. I saw it under the "devices" folder but it would open it. it just gave details about it. All I want to know is how to open my webcam, if my webcam used to be hp and my moms friend changed it to acer.
